Evaluation of Air Filtration Systems to Reduce Aerosol Transmission of PRRS

ثبت نشده
چکیده

(1) High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration: the HEPA-filtration system used a prefilter screen, a bag filter (Eurovent [EU] 8 rating), and a HEPA filter (EU13 rating). (2) 2×-low-cost filtration: The low-cost-filtration system contained mosquito netting (prefilter), 2 fiberglass furnace filters, and 2 electrostatic furnace filters. (3) Bag filtration: Bag filtration involved the use of a filter rated EU8 and a minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV) of 14. (4) Filter tested against particles derived from dioctylphthalate (DOP): The 95%-DOP, 0.3-μmfiltration system involved a pleat-in-pleat V-bank disposable filter with a 95% efficiency rating for particles 0.3 μm or greater in diameter and ratings of EU9 and MERV 15.

Electrospun Polyurethane/β-Cyclodextrin Composite Membranes for Aerosol Filtration and Adsorption of Volatile Organic Compounds from the Air

Introduction: Electrospun nanomembranes have been used for effective air filtration due to their potential for active surface modification. This study aims to synthesize polyurethane (PU) nanofiber membrane incorporated with different amounts of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) to capture volatile organic compounds (VOCs) along with aerosol filtration from the air. Material and Methods: First, PU was sy...

The role of infectious aerosols in disease transmission in pigs.

Airborne transmission is of significance for a number of infectious diseases in pigs. The general principles of the airborne pathway, including aerosol production, decay and inhalation, are reviewed. Practical issues regarding aerosol sampling and sample analysis are also discussed. Details of the aerobiology of porcine diseases, including foot-and-mouth disease, Aujesky's disease, and respirat...

Preventing Airborne Disease Transmission: Review of Methods for Ventilation Design in Health Care Facilities

Health care facility ventilation design greatly affects disease transmission by aerosols. The desire to control infection in hospitals and at the same time to reduce their carbon footprint motivates the use of unconventional solutions for building design and associated control measures. This paper considers indoor sources and types of infectious aerosols, and pathogen viability and infectivity ...

Forced-air warming design: evaluation of intake filtration, internal microbial buildup, and airborne-contamination emissions.

Forced-air warming devices are effective for the prevention of surgical hypothermia. However, these devices intake nonsterile floor-level air, and it is unknown whether they have adequate filtration measures to prevent the internal buildup or emission of microbial contaminants. We rated the intake filtration efficiency of a popular current-generation forced-air warming device (Bair Hugger model...
